Venture Physical Therapy utilizes the Philips Lumify in clinic to offer Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Imaging. This is similar to the more common sonogram used during pregnancy and can show our PTs many structures in the body to help diagnose strains, sprains, inflammatory conditions, or nerve entrapments. Research and clinical experience supports ultrasound as the preferred diagnostic test for many musculoskeletal injuries. Ultrasound can also be used functionally in the clinic to ensure proper muscle activation during specific exercise.
Here are some benefits of ultrasound:
- Ultrasound uses no radiation and has no known harmful effects on humans
- Real time imaging allows ultrasound to capture movement in the tissues, something x-ray, CT, and MRI are unable to do
- Ultrasound may provide greater detail of soft tissues like muscles, tendons, or joints
Diagnoses: Ankle sprains, rotator cuff pathology, epicondylitis, tendonitis, bursitis, nerve entrapment
