Ted Anderson

Ted Anderson grew up riding horses, hiking trails, and fishing outside Sacramento, California in Folsom and Placerville. He went to Santa Clara University where he found his two loves, his wife and healthcare. While working in the Athletic Training Room, he treated internationally ranked soccer players. Ted was accepted at Marquette University where he received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He trained further at Stanford and the Palo Alto VA in Spinal Cord Injury. He came to Maui to start his family and this practice. When not joking in the clinic, he is either at on the beach, performing Standup Comedy, and chasing his three moderately adorable children. He also serves on the Board at Maui Adult Day Care Centers and provides transfer training and fall prevention courses throughout the state.
Ann Anderson

Ann Anderson attended and graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Arts. She moved with her husband Ted to Milwaukee so he could finish his Doctorate of Physical Therapy and then back to CA to complete her Master’s of Public Health at University of San Francisco. Ann then moved to Maui in 2008 with the family, and soon began Venture Physical Therapy with her husband Ted. Ann is responsible for the behind the scenes work that keeps the company running and doing the billing at home all while taking care of their three daughters and their fourth child, an Olde English Bulldogge, Snots. Ann likes to spend her time taking adventures with her husband and daughters to the beach or Ocean Center and taking the girls to all their extra-curricular activities while simultaneously running the company.
Chantelle Cardenas

Chantelle Cardenas was born and raised on this beautiful island, Maui. She has been employed with Venture Physical Therapy for 6 years, starting as a Front Desk Assistant and now the Billing Assistant for the company. Outside of work, Chantelle is a busy mother to her 4 wonderful children Joshua, Bryson, Chayson and Jacelyn. Chantelle enjoys art and crafts, listening to music, spending time at the beautiful beaches and camping.
Teddy Zabel

Teddy Zabel grew up playing sports, riding snowmobiles, and cutting down trees in a small town just outside of Syracuse, New York. He went to Ithaca College where he majored in Business Administration. Teddy injured his shoulder while playing football at Ithaca, and through that injury discovered his love for rehab medicine. After completing his undergraduate studies Teddy moved south to pursue his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of North Carolina. He furthered his education at Fort Bragg’s Intrepid Spirit Center treating soldiers with traumatic brain injuries and concussions. After finishing his formal education, he followed in his brothers footsteps and moved to Maui. When not in the clinic Teddy can be found surfing, paddling, hiking, or CrossFitting. Teddy also performs free functional movement screens at various gyms around Maui!

Maura O’Connor grew up in a suburb of Chicago playing soccer, dancing, singing in accapella group, performing in musicals, and annoying her two older sisters. She went to Northeastern University where she received both her Bachelors in Rehabilitation Science and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She found her love for craft beers while working at Sam Adams Brewery as well as running while training for multiple marathons, including the Boston Marathon. She trained further in Chicago with a focus on manual and orthopedic therapy and in Boston with a focus on vestibular therapy. She came to Maui on recommendation of fellow therapist Alyssa, and you will find her up in the mountains trail running & hiking, or in the water paddle boarding & scuba diving.
Dan Yang

Daniel Yang was raised in Bakersfield, California where he enjoyed participating in Judo, skateboarding, and weight lifting. He moved to La Jolla, California where he attended University of California, San Diego and earned his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology. While living in San Diego, he spent his time going to the beach, paddling dragon boats, and attending concerts. After a year of working in a lab, he decided he wanted to interact with patients to help improve health and fitness. Daniel attended University of St. Augustine for Health Science in North County San Diego where he earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. During his internships, Daniel discovered his interest with working with orthopedic and sports populations. After working in California for the first couple years of his career, he moved to Maui to work at Venture Physical Therapy and discovered his love for the island of Lana’i. When Daniel is not working, he enjoys riding bikes, paddling outrigger canoe, and archery.
Jessika Smith
Jessika Smith grew up on the coast of Maine where she was very active in her church youth program and other civic groups where she spent most of her younger years excelling in athletics. She also developed a love of nature through spending a lot of time hiking and on the lakes, rivers, and the ocean. She continues to enjoy these same aspects of Hawaii and explores her surroundings as much as she can. In her spare time, she enjoys stand up paddle boarding, gardening, disc golf, and participating in stewardship activities. She also has a deep appreciation and adoration for crafting, art, and live music. The University of Maine in Orono is where she earned her degrees in Child Development and Adolescent Psychology.
After graduation she had various jobs in the social work realm that eventually lead her to become a case manager for those with severe mental health and/or physical disabilities. This allowed her to hone skills in healthcare coordination, which is what first brought her to Lana’i City in 2011. Jessika then met and worked collaboratively with the Venture Physical Therapy team when they first began servicing the island of Lana’i in 2012. Venture Physical Therapy opened their Lana’i City clinic in 2016 and shortly after that she joined the VPT team as the Office Manager of the Lana’i location. In addition to her full-time status with VPT Jessika continues to work on a part-time basis with disadvantaged youth and families.
Terri Driesel

Terri Driesel was born and raised in Missouri, and is a graduate of University of Missouri with BHS in PT 1988. She has had varied experience in inpatient, outpatient, home health, long-term care during a 24-year career in rural, nonprofit county hospital in southern MO. She moved to Maui in 2012, and is married with a grown daughter that lives onisland as well. She started SUP six years ago, so if she’s not at work, you can probably find her near or on the water. She is a multi-dimensional force in Physical Therapy and our Wound Care specialist at Venture Rehab. You can find Terri at our clinic in the Kihei Wailea Medical Center.
Talia Petersen

Talia Petersen is from California and grew up in Santa Rosa, where she was always active in sports and loved being active. This inspired her to pursue a career where she could help others find joy in movement. She is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, and it was here that she discovered her passion for Neurorehab and working with patients with spinal cord injury on one of her co-ops. Talia fell in love with Hawai’i while completing a co-op on O’ahu. She returned to Maui for a clinical rotation at Venture PT, studying under the program’s leader, Alyssa Fusco. Talia enjoyed her experience so much, she accepted a job with us in the summer of 2022. She is focusing on Neuro PT at our Kalama Heights clinic and is such a great asset to our team.
Chris Strain

Chris is an impressive addition to our team and has been a PT for five years, yet it seems like more with his proficiency and dedication to neurological rehab. He spent three years working in an Acute Rehab Unit and spent the last few years in our Kalama Heights clinic, and now is also at our new locale at Hui No Ke Ola Pono as well as providing In-Home PT. He graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 2018 with Doctorate of Physical Therapy. He attends national continuing-education conferences, has a certification in the use of EksoBionics’ robotic exoskeleton, water safety for aquatic therapy, and two types of ambulatory neuromuscular electrical stimulation. Chris has experience in performing wheelchair-seating evaluations and recommending AFOs to optimize functional mobility. He is particularly interested in working with people with stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, among other neurological diagnosis. He also served on an interdisciplinary council to improve health outcomes within an ARU, and also volunteers with BLOOM, a nonprofit to provide Maui with a space for life enrichment and empowerment to adults with disabilities.
Emily Zint

Emily is originally from the Chicago suburbs and brings a diverse athletic background to her role. She completed her undergraduate and PT education at Marquette University. Her passion for rehabilitation was deepened through her work as a human physiology and exercise researcher with neuro and orthopedic participants, resulting in numerous journal articles and conference presentations. This passion was further solidified during a clinical rotation with Venture PT in Maui, leading her to join our team.
Emily is part of our Workforce Rehab team and commutes weekly to our Lāna’i clinic. She is also a certified running coach, with a focus on working with both experienced and new runners. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, snorkeling, running, swimming with sharks, and traveling between islands. Emily founded the Run EZ Club, a free community fitness group that meets bi-monthly across Maui.
Erin Schantz

Erin was raised in Rochester, NY where from a young age, she thrived on the tennis court and embraced the cold winters competing in Alpine ski racing. Her journey led her to Nazareth University, where she received her Bachelor’s in Health Sciences and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy through their rigorous 3+3 program. During her training, she completed her final clinical rotation at our Kalama Heights clinic, where she discovered her love for Maui and accepted a full-time job position following graduation. She is focusing on Orthopedics at our Workforce Rehab and Kalama Heights clinics, and looks forward to leading our mentorship program to empower future PTs.
Maddy Briones

Maddy was born in the Philippines, moved with family to Maui at the age of 12 and it’s been a wonderful home for generations. She has been working in the medical industry for over 24 years, with a majority of those years focused in a Physical Therapy setting. She also worked as a patient care coordinator and billing advisor. Maddy joined Venture a few years ago, and it feels like she has been a part of the team since the beginning. Outside of work, Maddy is a busy mom to three daughters and two dogs. She loves to read and when time allows, likes to go walking and enjoy the outdoors.
